Book Fair

Mark your calendars!  This year's Wood Acres Book Fair will be held Friday, November 11 & Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Barnes & Noble in Bethesda. Back by popular demand, some of Wood Acres most beloved teachers will read us some of their favorite stories.  Also, Marc Tyler Nobleman, Wood Acres parent and author of many childrens' books including Boys of Steel: The Creators of Superman, will entertain us with his work.  A percentage of all sales made to Wood Acres' families, staff and friends over the two day fair are donated to the school's PTA. You'll also have the chance to purchase books pre-selected by your child's teacher for donation to his/her classroom. Online ordering will be available during the days of the Book Fair for family and friends who live far away or for you if you have other plans those days.  Friday the 11th is an early release day so plan on making an afternoon of it and select some new favorite books for your own library or get a jump on your holiday shopping.

**NEW THIS YEAR TO BOOK FAIR** Wood Acres students can sign up to read their original works at Book Fair and can submit designs for a bookmark for our Bookmark Contest!  

Calling all Storytellers and Poets! Wood Acres is home to many talented student authors and this
year's Book Fair will offer a showcase for their work. We invite any student to read an original short work to the audience of students, parents and other shoppers who will join us on Friday, November 11th, and Saturday, November 12th, at Barnes & Noble in Bethesda for our annual Book Fair. To get everyone excited for Book Fair this year, we are organizing a create-a-bookmark contest. Students who wish to participate should design a bookmark on our template paper, which can also be found on the PTA table. 

All bookmark design entries will be displayed at the Book Fair. One chosen bookmark design will be mass-produced and distributed to all students at Wood Acres ES in advance of Book Fair. That bookmark design will be selected by a local artist based on creativity and relevance to the subject of reading.

If you'd like to participate, please pick up a bookmark template at the PTA table or print it out from the web link above. Completed art can be placed in the box on the PTA Table. All art must be submitted by Tuesday, November 1st.
