The following after school activities are sponsored by the PTA and are a fun alternative to playdates.

Chess

Foreign Language Program

Chinese, French and Spanish classes are offered through the FLES program, which was established back in 1975 under the MCCPTA.
Classes are available for students in K-5th grade and run from October to May. Classes are taught by trained FLES teachers with native language skills who are enthusiastic about sharing their language and culture with young students. There is information available regarding registration at Activities Night, in addition to the Wednesday packet and Woodnet at the beginning of the school year. The FLES office is hoping to pilot an online registration procedure with Wood Acres this year and more information will be shared when it becomes available. Mad Science

You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Mad Science sparks imaginative learning when school is out! These hands-on, one-hour science programs are themed around a particular area of science and include such topics as rocketry, magnets, polymers and even the science of toys. Children engage in exciting hands-on activities, watch spectacular demonstrations, participate in inquiry-based discussions and take home things that they have made themselves like model rockets, periscopes, Mad Science putty and more. The Wizard of Oz - 4th Grade Musical

The Wizard of Oz is an annual production put on by the 4th grade class.  Registration occurs each November and the production takes place in late March.  Wood Acres' parent volunteers work with Adventure Theater to stage this memorable production.

This year's performances will take place at Adventure Theater on March 19 at 7:00pm and March 20 and 21 at 6:00pm.
