About WoodNet
Woodnet is an electronic mail network sponsored by the WAES PTA. Only parents with a child attending WAES or faculty/staff members may use Woodnet. Students may not use the network. Woodnet emails must be related to PTA business, school affairs, and educational topics. Information must be pertinent to everyone in the school community, or to a general segment of it. It is NOT a forum for discussing specific students, parents, teachers, or staff members. Personal attacks, hostile remarks, and foul language are not appropriate when using Woodnet.
Community announcements, sports teams items, personal/family/home care requests or offers, etc. should NOT be posted on Woodnet directly, but can be included in the weekly “Wood Acres Classifieds.” Please send these items to

Woodnet Policy
The following Woodnet policy was approved by a unanimous vote at the PTA meeting Tuesday April 4th 2000:
Overview
Woodnet is an electronic mail network, sponsored by the PTA of the Wood Acres Elementary School (WAES). You must have a child attending WAES, or be a faculty or staff member of WAES, in order to use Woodnet. Students may not use the network.
Purpose
The purpose of this network is the exchange of information related to PTA business, school affairs, and educational topics. Information should be pertinent to everyone in the school community, or to a general segment of it, such as all glee club members, all second graders, all students in student government. It shall not be used as a forum for discussing specific students, parents, teachers, or staff members. Personal attacks, hostile remarks, and foul language are not appropriate when using Woodnet.
Content
Typical content appropriate to post on Woodnet:
- Announcements and reminders of meetings and school events.
- Meeting agendas and minutes.
- Requests for volunteers.
- Emergency closing announcements and follow-up.
- Educational topics covering a wide range of areas.

Rules of accepted practices for Woodnet:
- Type your name at the end or, if the message is lengthy, at the beginning of every message you post.
- Include a clear and specific subject line. Label official PTA announcements as such.
- Reply to the individual not the group if the reply is not pertinent to all.
- Include only relevant portions of the message you are responding to.
- Do not send attachments with messages to the list. They cause problems for some subscribers.
- Words can hurt - reread your message and be sure it won't be misconstrued by recipients.
- Woodnet messages are seen by all subscribers - conduct yourself accordingly.
- Do not provoke, insult, rage or USE ALL CAPS (equivalent or shouting).
- Do not send virus alerts, petitions, chain letters or other difficult-to-verify messages.
Usage Privileges
Woodnet is an unmoderated list. This means any member of Woodnet can send messages that will be seen by all subscribers. However, the manager of Woodnet may impose sanctions for failure to comply with these rules and guidelines, and may communicate privately with a person sending inappropriate messages. Breaking these rules or ignoring these guidelines may result in loss of posting privileges and removal from the list.
