Helpful Tips About...The Wood Acres Media Center
- The Media Center = The Library. Yes, they are one and the same.
- The Wood Acres Media Center functions just like a regular library. It is open from 8:30 to 3:30 every school day. Books can be checked out and returned during those times as long as a staff member is present.
- Each Classroom has an established system for giving students an opportunity to visit the Media Center on their own during the school day. Additionally, each Class has a designated day and time to visit the Media Center as a group.
- Students do not have to wait until their Class “Library Day” to return a book. They can return it anytime.
- Parents can set up a library account and check out books too! While the majority of the books in our library are geared toward children, there are some adult reference books available.
- Last, and probably the most valuable piece of little known information…...there are vast online resources available to students and parents of Wood Acres ES. These are subscription services with a wealth of accurate information that can help your child while researching school projects or investigating their own special interests. The Media Center would love to hear that students are making good use of this investment. A complete list of the websites and passwords was sent home in the Wednesday Packet at the beginning of the school year. Don’t fret if you’ve not saved this info in an easy-to-locate spot, just go to the Media Center and they will provide you with a copy of the list.
- The Media Center is always looking for more parent volunteers!
