Excessive Screen Use in Children During Virtual Learning

During the current stay-at-home order, our kids are on their devices even more for online classes, school work, staying connected with friends and even as part of spending time together as a family. As digital technology rapidly evolves, it becomes more stimulating and distracting. Many teenagers seem to be falling through the virtual cracks with little hope of getting help. This event is designed to answer some of the following questions, as well as any others you may have on the use of digital technology:

• Is excessive use of digital technology a problem for your kids?

• How can we teach healthy digital habits and balance to our kids, particularly during a prolonged period of virtual learning? 

• How can we all make changes now, so our next generation will succeed in elementary school, middle school, high school, college and beyond with technology still demanding so much time?

A local child and adolescent psychiatrist who is a nationally recognized expert on healthy screen use, and locally acclaimed for his recent presentations at Pyle, Clifford Sussman, MD, will share his knowledge and answer your questions.  The event will feature a brief presentation followed by an interactive question and answer session. Dr. Sussman will address the added challenge of managing screen time while we are all stuck at home and most of our kids’ education is being delivered remotely. This event will be of interest to all parents who are concerned about problematic use of video games, cell phones, the internet, and other digital technology.
